Alexa launches interactive audiobooks with Choose Your Own Adventures feature
Alexa continues to push innovation boundaries by launching an interactive way to story tell. Introducing Choose Your Own Adventures by audiobooks this product comes with a pre-loaded narrator that keeps the listener engaged throughout the entire story listening process. The reader can self choose and help make decisions to control the path of their own adventures in a series of myths, sci-fi and fantasy stories. Bringing your stories to life. This is interactivity at its finest. Inventors and entrepreneurs of 2019 know that the key to engaged users is interactive spaces and products.
Nowadays every company is jumping at the chance to add interactivity to their products. From interactive assistants to interactive kiosks every product is looking to be user interactive friendly. The popular Netflix original series Black Mirror launches a fully interactive movie that allows the viewer to choose A / B options that navigate the characters through different storylines. In the 2 hour movie, there are 5 hours of extra content so there are many possible story combinations. Other popular storyline apps have gone immersive as there are millions of downloads on Episodes which is a comic-styled interactive storybook app that allows you to pick your journey. This goes to show that the importance of consumer engagement is on the rise.
The team behind this fully immersive storytelling experience is Amazon’s Alexa and Audible. Together they have created 2 interactive storybooks titled The Abominable Snowman and Journey Under the Sea. How it works: There is a pre-recorded narrator that reads that begins the story and then they will reach a point where the user will give with choices to proceed. When you reach an ending, the skill will ask if you want to double back to undo an untimely death or accident, or if you just want to see what fate a different choice at a crucial moment might have brought. The skill will keep a tally of how far you’ve made it through the story and how many endings you’ve discovered, encouraging you to go through it again and again.
Although interactive story lines aren’t very new, this collaboration between Amazon’s Alexa and Audible makes reading and listening fun with a twist.
